Today LESCOP has released a new music video for ‘Le Vent’. The video was shot on a recent trip to Iceland for Airwaves Festival and was made by Isabelle Pires and our very own Jehnny Beth.
We have pressed a fourth edition of SAVAGES‘ debut single ‘Flying To Berlin’/'Husbands’ on 7″ vinyl. The single comes in a very special bundle, which also includes a hand-made screen-printed t-shirt.
The 4th edition of ‘Flying To Berlin’/'Husbands’ on 7″ black vinyl is unlike the three pressings beforehand. This edition has a retrospected black design on the cover and it is very limited edition.
The t-shirt also contains the artwork from the single cover and is in charcoal with white ink design. They were screen-printed by hand in very DIY fashion by Dolphinarium, good friends of Pop Noire, in an East London garage.
Released on Monday 28th October, but available now for pre-order on the Pop Noire Shop.
Our friends at Dazed Digital yesterday published a new video for LESCOP‘s ‘La Forêt’. The video was filmed from a live show LESCOP and his band played in Paris earlier in the year and was directed by our very own Antoine Carlier.
There is also an exclusive introduction to the video by Jehnny Beth, who directed the original video in 2011, where she divulges her relationship with LESCOP, how he fits into the Pop Noire family and the birth of our label.
Follow this LINK for the exclusive.
It’s not far away until LESCOP and his associates cross the English Channel to play OohLaLA! Festival next Thursday (24th October 2013) and we’re looking forward to seeing them in action!

Tickets are available from HERE.

LESCOP has launched his own new website this morning to celebrate the one year anniversary of the release of his debut album. What a year it has been for him, his band and all of us at Pop Noire!
Time flies when you’re having fun! Thanks to all your support over the past year.
Our heroine Jehnny Beth has made a few radio shows for us all to listen to. The first show features a theme of obsessions, where she discusses certain tracks that have compelled her and people around her. The second show was made recently whilst Jehnny has been touring America and includes guest appearances from the crew of the tour bus, including Johnny Hostile, Duke Garwood and her fellow SAVAGES.
Both are available to stream from here blog:
We hope there will be many more shows to come, so stay tuned. POP NOIRE CONTROLS THE AIRWAVES! (If that’s ok with you, of course?)
We’re so happy that SAVAGES got nominated for the Mercury Music Prize yesterday! The girls put so much hard work and thought into recording this album independently with Johnny Hostile at the end of last year.
It’s such a great credit to Matador, Pop Noire and, most importantly, SAVAGES themselves to see it get the critical recognition it truly deserves.
Bonsoir Madames et Monsieurs,
Between the dates of 21st-24th October 2013 The Village Underground in Shoreditch, London will suffer from the French invasion for Ooh La LA! 2013.
We are looking forward to our very own LESCOP coming across the waters once again to perform on the 24th October.
For more information for the event, click HERE or enjoy the video below.

Today is the day where one of our co-founders, Johnny Hostile, releases is debut single on Pop Noire Records.
The single will be available on iTunes from today and also available on 7″ vinyl from the Pop Noire Shop.
On 8th July, Johnny Hostile will be releasing his debut single on 7″ vinyl.
Side A is entitled ‘Jehnny’ and is dedicated to his beloved Jehnny Beth of SAVAGES. The reverse side, ‘Del Rio’, was inspired by Vanessa Del Rio, the other love of his life – a 70′s porn star (the biggest slut of them all). What’s not to love about that?
The vinyl is avaliable to pre-order from the Pop Noire Shop now.

Our label’s co-founder and in-house producer, Johnny Hostile, has released a new song with accompanying video. The video for ‘Jehnny’ was , funnily enough, made by Jehnny Beth of SAVAGES herself – just when you thought our little record label couldn’t get any more incestuous!
With this video also comes the great news that Johnny will be joining SAVAGES as their main support on their forthcoming UK and European tour, commencing tomorrow. Check out the video until the end for more details about the dates.
Today SAVAGES made their forthcoming album ‘Silence Yourself’ available to stream online.
Their debut LP will be released in one week on Monday 6th May (7th in the US) and they will also be playing a live in-store gig at Rough Trade to celebrate. If you buy the album that day from the Shop you will receive a wristband to see the performance. More details HERE.
It is aso available to buy on vinyl and CD from the Pop Noire Shop.
The girls have put in so much hard work into this album and we’re so excited to release it into the wild next week. Enjoy!
SAVAGES have decided that Ministry Of Sound will be the chosen venue for the London date of their forthcoming UK and European tour. Hosting a post-punk gig in the mecca of commercial dance music?! Strange choice, eh? However, the girls have got something special up their sleeves for this event and all secrets will be revealed on the night. We’d love to see you there on the 9th May.
Support will come from our label’s beloved co-owner and SAVAGES‘ super producer, Johnny Hostile, who will be playing some weird, dark, experimental solo stuff – best described in his own words: “It’s a bit like Alan Vega, but better looking”.
Check out the poster below for more info. Ticket’s can be purchased HERE.
Just in case you havn’t seen it yet, SAVAGES have made a new video for ‘Shut Up’. The video, directed by Giorgio Testi, starts with a spoken word manifesto read by vocalist, Jehn, and then goes into the album opening track for their debut LP.
‘Silence Yourself’ will be released on 6th May 2013 through Pop Noire and Matador Records. You can pre-order your copy from our Shop.
This is an EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE of a unique EXPERIMENTATION inspired by the early DADA concept of SIMULTANEOUS POETRY – a situation where poems are recited simultaneously onstage in different languages “in such a way that the resulting combinations account for the total effect of the work, ELEGIAC, FUNNY or BIZARRE” quoting the leading Dada artist Hugo Ball.
THE SONIC SIMULTANEOUS POEM alludes to the purpose of bringing a solitary voice back to itself. The voice and sounds become immersed and must fight to be heard, and fight to find their path. The ineluctable rhythm and noise of the world threaten to destroy the individual, but it shows resistance. The figure stands amongst the cacophony.
Tickets are £10 can can be bought HERE.
Doors at 8pm – Performance at 9pm .
No entry after performance starts.
The event is likely to be filmed – we will kindly ask the audience to not film or take pictures of this event with their phones or cameras.
Tickets wont be available on the door so please buy in advance.
Ear plugs will be supplied.

“Love Phoenix, Chromatics and Stereolab’s ‘French Disko’? Then get to know Matthieu LESCOP… He likes you to dance whilst he sings, so put on your best artsy polo-neck and get moving” NME
Today is an enormous day for Pop Noire. We are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with Matador Records to release the much-anticipated debut album by SAVAGES on 6th May 2013.
The album was recorded in north-west London’s Fish Factory during a three week period in December 2012, and is produced by Johnny Hostile / Rodaidh McDonald.
Clocking in at 38 minutes, Silence Yourself opens with an excerpt from the John Cassavetes film ‘Opening Night’, and features brand new recordings of ‘Husbands’, ‘I Am Here’ and ‘City’s Full’ – first heard on debut single ‘Husbands / Flying To Berlin’ and the ‘I Am Here’ live EP – both previously released by us here at Pop Noire.
First song to be revealed from the album is ‘She Will’, which can be heard below.
The album will be available to pre-order from iTunes from Tuesday 19th at midnight, and fans who do so will instantly receive an mp3 download of ‘She Will’. Physical copies of the album will also be sold through our Pop Noire store and will be available on CD and vinyl.
The album comprises eleven tracks that are uncompromising and delivered with fierce conviction.
Silence Yourself track listing:
A1 Shut Up
A2 I Am Here
A3 City’s Full
A5 Waiting For A Sign
B1 Dead Nature
B2 She Will
B3 No Face
B4 Hit Me
B6 Marshal Dear
Today we have launched a brand new short film into the world. The film features LESCOP‘s ‘La Nuit Americaine’ and was directed by Sylvie Verheyde.
In just under 10 minutes in length, we see Mathieu LESCOP encounter in a distant and heart-aching love affair with a beautiful dancing girl. It’s wonderful to see such brilliant acting from an incredibly talented young man.
See for yourself…
On a recent SAVAGES trip to New York, director Nathan Corbin met up with the girls and shot them whilst they ventured across the city and performed live events.
The footage has been used to accommodate today’s release of ‘Brid’ by HTB; a SAVAGES side-project featuring vocalist Jehnny Beth, guitarist Gemma Thompson and their producer Johnny Hostile.
We are delighted to announce that today is the day that our latest project, HTB, release their first record. For those of you that don’t know already…
HTB is an improvisation trio by Johnny Hostile, Gemma Thompson and Jehnny Beth. Each piece of music is recorded with the members performing simultaneously in three separate rooms – Hostile and Thompson creating the natural soundtrack to Beth’s spoken words. In this context, the musicians only rely on what they hear and react to one another spontaneously. Each track was left exactly as it was performed. Gemma Thompson and Jehnny Beth are also members of the London quartet ‘SAVAGES‘. Johnny Hostile is a musician and producer who previously worked on LESCOP, SAVAGES and John & Jehn albums. Jehnny Beth and Johnny Hostile are co-founders of Pop Noire records.
HTB will also be playing their first live performance next month at Corsica Studios on 27th March. See poster below for more details. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
Next week SAVAGES will be playing a headline slot at Camden’s Electric Ballroom. We have a some varied support acts including Geoff Barrow’s BEAK>, a choreography piece by Fernanda Munoz-Newsome as well as out very own Johnny Hostile performing a live electronic set.
The show takes place on Thursday 21st February and doors are at 7:30pm. Check out this trailer to build up some excitement for the event.
Last October saw SAVAGES destroying Islington’s Electrowerkz with two consecutive sold-out shows. The latter of these shows was filmed by director Giorgio Testi and made into the live video below. The song being performed in the video to open their set was ‘I Am Here’.
In anticipation for his forthcoming trip to London next week, we are pleased to announce that LESCOP‘s self-titled debut album is now available to download from iTunes in the UK by following this LINK.
Or if digital isn’t your thing, we also have physical copies of the LP on 12″ vinyl that are available from our Shop.
We are incredibly proud to announce that in just over a month LESCOP will be making a trip across the English Channel to play for us in London.
Taigen Kawabe, from our friends Bo Ningen, will also be supporting as well as DJ sets from SAVAGES and our very own Johnny Hostile. The full Pop Noire family will be in the house, come party with us!
The event will take place at Birthdays, Dalston on 17th January 2013.
Japanese psych-rockers Bo Ningen will be releasing their forthcoming single ‘Nichijyou’ on 7th January 2013 through Stolen Recordings. Here’s the REALLY interesting part…
The track welcomes a collaborative duet between Bo Ningen’s frontman Taigan and our very own Jehnny Beth of SAVAGES. ‘Nichijyou’ features Taigan singing in English for the first time and his and Jehnny’s vocal interactions bounce off each other to a complementary and enthralling effect. The single was also recorded a few weeks ago by our in-house super-producer, Johnny Hostile.
The Pop Noire family have been admirers of Bo Ningen for many years now and it is an absolute pleasure to creatively work with them. We can’t wait to unveil it to the digital word in January. Keep you eyes (and ears) peeled!
2012 has been an ever-increasingly amazing year for SAVAGES and the final live show of the year is bound to be a good’un.
Geoff Barrow’s Beak> have invited our girls to support them in their native city of Bristol on 19th December at The Exchange. We would love to see you there!
More information can be found HERE.
We freaked out last night. Our girls absolutely stole the show on BBC2′s ‘Later… with Jools Holland’, which fast-tracked its way into being one of the many highlights in an ever-increasingly outstanding year for SAVAGES.
We couldn’t be prouder.
Actually, we COULD be prouder, as Jehnny even represented our label by wearing our brand new Pop Noire t-shirt for their performance of ‘Husbands’!
The whole programme is available to stream on BBC iPlayer and we have a clip of the most important bit below. A full-length programme including more footage will be aired on BBC2 on Friday at 11:50pm.
We are very proud to announce that today is the day that LESCOP has released his debut LP. LESCOP and his Pop Noire family have worked incredibly hard over this record for the last few years and it is a great pleasure to finally release it into the wild.
This Monday LESCOP will be releasing his debut album through Pop Noire Records. In anticipation for this release, we have decided to preview a track from the forthcoming LP for you to stream below.

This Sunday sees SAVAGES play their last of this summer’s festivals as they head way out west for Festival No.6.
The festival is set in a stunning location on the Welsh coast in the town of Portmeirion, which is where the infamously strange 1960′s TV series ‘The Prisoner’ was shot.
SAVAGES will be performing on the Estuary Stage on Sunday night, just before headliners TOY.
We are very proud to showcase a second trailer for the much-anticipated forthcoming debut album by LESCOP. This tense video gives you a sneaky preview of LESCOP‘s dark pop music that is only just a few weeks away from being set free into the world.
All of us in the Pop Noire camp are incredibly excited to be releasing the record on 1st October and we hope this album teaser will allow you to share our excitement.
Wonderland Magazine have featured our little record label into their next publication. The article explains the birth of the label, the ideas, ethos and people behind it and, most importantly, the music.

Thanks to all who came and made it a very special night for everyone.
We are very proud of LESCOP‘s very first performance live on French TV. He performed his single ‘La Foret’ at France 3 at 00.35 pm french time yesterday night. In the audience was, amongst others, John Malkovic.
For those who missed it and for people who were not able to watch French television, here’s the video of his performance. Well done LESCOP!

Very exciting news to share today. SAVAGES have been invited to support British Seapower at their gig at the Krankenhaus 2 Event at ‘The Haunt’ in Brighton, UK. It was a very spontaneous and unexpected turn for SAVAGES, since they gave their debut live show a bit earlier than expected. Luke Turner from the Quietus states “despite the fact that they’d only received the call that morning, it was an inspired, assertive performance.” – We are very proud of SAVAGES‘s live debut, which was indeed smashing and very promising. Expect to hear a lot more from SAVAGES soon. If you missed this show, since it was such short notice, catch SAVAGES live at the Pop Noire Night at the Shaklewell Arms in Dalston, LONDON on Tuesday 24th of January, where they will play before Pop Noire’s very own LESCOP.
Did you listen to LESCOP‘s new single ‘La Foret’ and liked it a lot? Did you listen to his other tracks from his recently released Album and now all you want to do is catch him live on stage? You are lucky if you are in Paris, because then you’re wish is being fulfilled. Catch LESCOP au Pop In.
